Road Map for Diabetes Research in Europe (DIAMAP)
Published on 01/08/09 by jannewsInvitation to diabetes researchers and funding agencies to participate in an innovative European project
An innovative new project to guide a Road Map for Diabetes Research in Europe (DIAMAP) commenced on 1 April 2008. The project is being undertaken by the Alliance for European Diabetes Research (EURADIA) and is funded by a grant from the European Commission (FP7 200701).
The mission of DIAMAP is to undertake a wide survey of the current European diabetes research landscape from which expert opinion can identify gaps and highlight strengths, to guide a Road Map strategy for diabetes in Europe. The FP7 grant is for a two-year period and will be guided by leading experts in diabetes research and will include people with diabetes, academic science, industry, and health professionals.
The Road Map will provide the European Commission, funding agencies, academia and industry with a strategy to address weaknesses and to maximize the strengths and opportunities for the future direction of diabetes research in Europe. Reports that emerge from the survey will be an invaluable indicator of research activity and current levels of funding across research fields that can be evaluated with a degree of accuracy not previously possible.
The DIAMAP team invites input from individuals working in diabetes research directly into the online research database, funding agencies can access a questionnaire specific to funding issues. People with diabetes and the public are invited to participate via our interactive pages to ensure that DIAMAP is truly centered upon the person with diabetes.
To find out more about DIAMAP and access the questionnaires please see our website www.diamap.eu.
