American Diabetes Association (ADA)
The ADA funds research to prevent, cure and manage diabetes and to improve the lives of people affected by diabetes.

Association British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD)
The Association of British Clinical Diabetologists is the national organisation of Consultant Physicians in Britain who specialise in Diabetes Mellitus. Most are also Acute General Physicians, and many are also Specialists in Endocrinology and Lipid Metabolism.

The Cochrane Collaboration
The Cochrane Collaboration is an international not-for-profit and independent organization, dedicated to making up-to-date, accurate information about the effects of healthcare readily available worldwide. It produces and disseminates systematic reviews of healthcare interventions and promotes the search for evidence in the form of clinical trials and other studies of interventions.

The Department of Health
The Department of Health is committed to improving the quality and convenience of care provided by the NHS and social services. Its work includes setting national standards, shaping the direction of health and social care services and promoting healthier living.

Diabetes UK (DUK)
Diabetes UK is the largest organisation in the UK working for people with diabetes, funding research, campaigning and helping people live with the condition.

DIAMAP
A Road Map for Diabetes Research in Europe, DIAMAP is undertaking a survey of the current European diabetes research landscape. It will provide the European Commission, funding agencies, academia and industry with a strategy to address weaknesses and to maximize the strengths and opportunities for the future direction of diabetes research in Europe.

European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD)
The EASD aims to encourage and support research in the field of diabetes, the rapid diffusion of acquired knowledge and to facilitate its application.

Federation of European Nurses in Diabetes (FEND)
FEND is an association for nurses working in the field of diabetes care, research and education in Europe. It aims to promote the delivery of evidence based care for people with diabetes throughout Europe.

International Diabetes Federation (IDF)
The IDF is an umbrella organization of over 200 national diabetes associations in over 160 countries. Its mission is to promote diabetes care, prevention worldwide and search for a cure.

International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD)
ISPAD aims to promote clinical and basic science, research, education and advocacy in childhood and adolescent diabetes.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)
JDRF exists to find the cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications. It is the world's leading charitable funder of type 1 diabetes research.

Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA)
Governmental agency with responsibility for standards of safety, quality and performance. It is an executive agency of the Department of Health.

National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE)
NICE is the independent organisation responsible for providing national guidance on the promotion of good health and the prevention and treatment of ill health.

NHS Evidence – diabetes
NHS Evidence is a free, unique resource, funded by the NHS, aimed at supporting healthcare professionals by providing high quality information on all aspects of diabetes including both clinical and organisational issues.

World Diabetes Foundation (WDF)
The World Diabetes Foundation is dedicated to supporting prevention and treatment of diabetes in developing countries. It acts as a catalyst to build relations among different stakeholders such as governments, diabetes organisations, hospitals and authorities to ensure continued existence of its initiatives after the completion of its funded projects.

Young Diabetologists Forum (YDF)
YDF is a forum for young diabetologists who are members of Diabetes UK. It seeks to represent and support the interests of trainee/junior doctors and young consultants who are involved in any aspect of diabetes care or research.
