The cost and number of drugs prescribed to treat diabetes in England has risen by more than 40% in the last 5 years according to a new report released by the NHS Information Centre

According to results presented at the ADA 70th Scientific Sessions, type 2 diabetes patients who begin initial therapy on MSD's Janumet (sitagliptin / metformin) have significantly improved glycaemic control over 32 weeks compared to patients taking pioglitazone -  a mean reduction of 1.9% in HbA1c with Janumet compared to 1.4% with pioglitazone.
